When Geraldo Iniguez was growing up, he often went to work with his father, who worked as a handyman and contractor building homes. Even as a kid, Geraldo enjoyed seeing how things were built and figuring out how to work more efficiently. That early experience made a lasting impression and when Geraldo went to college at California State University Long Beach, he decided to major in Civil Engineering.

Geraldo has been working for Skanska for the past 21 years on projects throughout California, including Riverside and San Diego Counties. He joined the Sixth Street Viaduct Replacement Project earlier this year, which is actually his first opportunity to work in his hometown of Los Angeles. His primary responsibility as a Project Executive is to make sure that everyone is on the same page and coordinating as needed to reach their common goals.

"You've gotta love the work," Geraldo says of his career in the construction industry. The job is unique, complex and—at times—stressful, but ultimately very rewarding. Geraldo values the relationships that he has built and is grateful for the opportunity to work on a project that will last for many, many years to come.

When he's not on the job, Geraldo likes to go deep sea fishing. He enjoys being out on the open water and the thrill of reeling in a giant catch. Unfortunately, we forgot to ask which is easier to wrangle: big fish or engineers.
