Shareka Smith

Shareka was hired by SSW to work on the 6th St. Viaduct Replacement Project as part of the team assembling falsework. Shareka is a native Angeleno who attended Centennial High School in Compton and soon after decided to pursue her childhood dream to become a Carpenter. She enrolled with W.I.N.T.E.R , (Women In Non-Traditional Employment Roles) a pre-apprenticeship program that provides training to prepare women for the construction industry. After completing the program, she enrolled with the Carpenters Union and was referred to Veronica Diaz, SSW Jobs Coordinator, who was able to connect Shareka with the right job.

Shareka has worked hard to overcome obstacles in her life and as a mother of 3 beautiful children she works even harder to provide a bright future for them. She is eager and motivated to build the new viaduct with SSW.
