In our last newsletter, we profiled a new member of the Skanska Stacy and Witbeck (SSW) team: Office and Field Engineer Michael Maksimos. Now we would like to introduce another recent addition, and fellow Field Engineer, Abraham Zuckerman. Abraham is a Los Angeles native and recently graduated from UCLA. Last summer, during his final year of study, Abraham was an intern with SSW and was able to begin working with a lot of the other engineers.

In January, he was hired full-time onto the Project and is excited to be a part of something that will have an impact not just on the local communities, but the entire city. Right now, he is helping with falsework installation throughout the site and is anxious to see the upcoming concrete pours for the bridge decks. He looks forward to being one of the first to walk on the new viaduct surface.

Abraham's father was a furniture designer and Abraham has always enjoyed building new things. He likes architecture and trying to figure out why structures are designed the way they are. That curiosity led him to study engineering and now he gets to experience how fulfilling the job can be, especially when he is able to look at paper plans drawn in the office and then step outside to see those elements coming to life.

He encourages anyone interested in pursuing an engineering career to have curiosity and ask questions. The terminology and industry jargon can be intimidating, but Abraham realized that everyone at SSW wants to help him succeed. All he has to do is stay curious and keep asking questions.
