As part of our ongoing introduction to the new SSW engineers on the Project, we recently spoke with Field Engineer Bryan Lee. After graduating from UCLA with a Civil Engineering degree, Bryan joined the Project in November of 2019. During his first two years, Bryan will be on a rotation program, working in different capacities across the job site. Right now, he is finishing work as a Field Engineer, which means Bryan is charged with inventory and tracking, generally making sure that the management staff has all of the information they need to make their submittals. Prior to that, Bryan helped with layout and measuring to prepare for concrete pours.

Before moving over to the Project, Bryan spent time as an Assistant Superintendent on the Purple Line Extension in West Los Angeles. He grew up in nearby Torrance and has stayed local for school and work, so he is very familiar with the region. As a kid, Bryan told us that he played with Legos a lot and had a talent for math in school, so engineering became a natural interest. He chose civil engineering specifically because he recognized they were responsible for the roads, subways and buildings that he used everyday. "It's a tangible end product," Bryan explained.

When he's not on the job, Bryan can likely be found playing music on the electric guitar he received as a graduation gift. After a long day on the Project, whether taking measurements in the field or preparing materials in the office, there's nothing better than a little jam session!
