Carlos Gonzalez

Carlos Gonzalez knows the Project location well. He was born at a hospital just a few miles away on Whittier Boulevard and lived in the Boyle Heights neighborhood for 25 years. His brother has a house nearby. Carlos remembers growing up near the original, iconic Sixth Street Bridge, a favorite location for movie and music video productions.

Carlos attended a hiring event in April hosted by SSW where interested applicants were invited to be interviewed for an opportunity to be hired onto the Project. SSW superintendents and management were available to answer questions and provide an overview of the Project.

Not long after, Carlos began work on the impressive structure that is replacing the bridge he grew up with. Carlos is a Journeyman Carpenter with years of experience on bridge and tunnel projects. Recently, he has been working to construct the temporary formwork to hold concrete for the bridge decks.

Carlos has long been interested in engineering and construction. He enjoys being out on a work site and especially likes working for a large company on a major project that will have a lasting impact on his community.

When he's not on a construction site, Carlos will most likely still be outside. He has a half-acre backyard that's home to a flock of roosters and his huskies. Carlos also has an orchard of trees growing everything from pomegranates to plums. Whenever the fruit is ready to pick, Carlos collects what he can and gives the tasty treats away to his family and neighbors.

That's Carlos. Always giving back to his neighborhood.
