Jeff Smith

Jeff Smith is originally from Minot, North Dakota, which he describes as "much less metropolitan" than his current residence of Los Angeles. (Jeff also notes that Minot is the hometown of actor Josh Duhamel, so he's not alone in his migration westward.) Since relocating to L.A., one of Jeff's favorite things to do with his family is explore the city—especially the parts that they had only seen in movies or on television.

Places like the original Sixth Street Viaduct.

Jeff has extensive experience in construction and is currently a Project Manager with SSW. That means he manages all aspects of the Project, anticipates potential problems, mitigates risk and will ultimately oversee its successful completion. Three "C"s—coordination, collaboration and communication—are critical to Jeff's job. He's proud of how everyone has worked together during this complex process.

An interesting aspect of the Project, Jeff explains, is that these bridge elements will shift slightly after completion. The concrete, reinforcing steel and post-tensioning tendons will settle for about ten years before they reach their final position. Jeff is grateful for this incredible opportunity to work on replacing the iconic bridge with what he believes "will be one of the most beautiful concrete arch bridges in the world."

It's clear that, all due respect to Mr. Duhamel, the Minot native to leave the most lasting mark on Los Angeles will be Jeff Smith.
