Mohammad Riaz Mirza

Before joining the Project, Mohammad Riaz Mirza could be found working high above Downtown Los Angeles, helping to construct a 50-story high rise near LA Live and the towering 73-story Wilshire Grand Center skyscraper. From those lofty work sites, Mohammad (who goes by "Moe"), eventually found himself working at a far different elevation: underground.

For the past several years, Moe has worked on the Purple Line Extension Project, beginning with Section 1 (from Western Ave to La Cienega), then Section 2 (through Beverly Hills and Westwood). Now, Moe finds himself as part of the FKTP JV team tunneling through West Los Angeles on the final section of the Metro subway extension. Specifically, Moe helps to install the supportive wooden trusses and piles inside the tunnel. He is also charged with fabricating any number of elements from ventilation to catwalks.

The Encino native has two decades of experience in the construction industry but is still learning new things. While on the job, he tries to pass along the lessons that he has learned to younger workers and support new hires whenever he can. There is always plenty to discover on this job. And you never know where it will take you next.
