Jason Johnson

If you see a giant crane operating from the riverbed, you'll probably see Jason Johnson nearby. He works as an Operating Engineer, meaning that he helps maintain these mighty machines. Crane operation is a complex undertaking, especially at this location because of its proximity to power lines, railroad tracks and other structures. But it's great training. Jason figures that if he can succeed here, his next job will be a walk in the park.

Before joining the Project last year, Jason owned and operated his own trucking company. He participated in the Troops to Truckers program at Camp Pendleton and used the G.I. Bill to supplement his pre-apprenticeship training. Jason happily recommends taking advantage of all the benefits and resources that veterans have available. He told us that he constantly applies his experience serving in the U.S. Marine Corps to his job now.

Jason served from 1997 to 2008, with a station in Japan and a deployment to Iraq in 2005. He was wounded during that tour and was awarded the Purple Heart for his service. SSW is grateful to have Jason and his fellow veterans on the Project.

Thank you all for your sacrifice.
