Around the world the construction industry is recognized as being one of the most hazardous industries in which to work. As the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager for Skanska Stacy and Witbeck, Kevin DeVault works diligently to ensure that the men and women on this project return home safe at the end of each shift. Kevin got his start in the industry as a Pipefitter, and understands the challenges of working in the field.
Every day starts with "Stretch and Flex" exercises which have proven to reduce soft tissue injuries common to construction, and every week the Project team assembles for a Safety Meeting to promote an Injury-Free Environment and a "Care for Life" safety culture.
Kevin attributes the overall success on this project to the individuals - "It's the guys out in the field that make for a good safety program". He enjoys being a part of the Sixth Street Viaduct Project - "The design of the new Viaduct is great! It's not everyday you get to be involved in transforming the skyline of a major City like Los Angeles".
