Q: Where did you grow up?

I grew up not too far from here in Santa Monica

Q: Before working at Skanska, what type of work were you performing?

I've done so many different jobs. As a kid, I did valet parking, then I got into printing for many years. I transitioned into becoming a home technician, and it eventually got to a managerial position where I was training about 30 guys in my division out in North Los

Angeles. The safety aspect went hand in hand with the training aspect; it was a lot of

teaching guys how to do their job safely. After that I was a regional facilities manager, and that also involved a lot of training, safety, financial management that culminated in a path to the construction industry. I got into safety because it was relevant and it seemed like there were people who weren't really reacting or interacting with the people they were working with in a manner I

would have. It was a natural progression.

Q: What drew you to Skanska originally?

I started with Skanska about 6 years ago, which was a time when things were really picking up for the company. Skanska caught my attention because they had a reputation for being a very safety-oriented company.

Q: What is your role at Skanska and what are some of the responsibilities you hold?

Majority of my time is spent out in the field evaluating work site hazards, and working to correct them immediately. It's helpful to come from a background dealing with monetary accountabilities too because I am able to observe the work out in the field, and provide insight in performing in the safest, least expensive way possible.

Q: What advice do you have for prospective Skanska candidates?

The core values of Skanska are pretty strong, we believe in helping everyone that comes on board. Some companies view employees as nothing but numbers, but if you come to work at one of our sites you're getting more of a family atmosphere. Skanska is about coming in to a comfortable environment where you are motivated to work hard and get the job done.

Q: What do you like to do in your spare time?

I like the outdoors; camping, hiking, hitting the sand dunes (off-roading), you name it.
